2006 NBA Draft Re-do

Well, today is the lottery, and I am glad I don't care about that anymore. Anyway, I have always felt that it takes 3 years to evaluate a draft in the NBA as well as the NFL. So, it is time for me to look back at that draft and laugh at the fools north of the boarder (or the fools in Minnesota, or Charlotte, or Chicago). While the 2006 draft failed to produce a lot of good players, it was an exiting draft inasmuch there was a record 15 trades. In this draft, I will assume those trades never happened and everyone is stuck with who they get.

Well, here it is:

1. With the first overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors select...........Brandon Roy form the University of Washington. (actual pick--Andrea Bargnani)

There was some talk at the trade deadline on whether Portland should trade to get Chris Bosh to pair him up the the Natural in Portland. I say this because if Toronto could of had that pair together in the Eastern Conference. They would be title contenders instead of a lotto bound team with no coach. Brandon Roy to Chris Bosh, yikes.

2. The the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls select............LaMarcus Aldridge from the University of Texas. (Actual pick--LaMarcus Aldridge, who was then traded for Tyrus Thomas and Victor Kryapa)

Back then, Chicago was looking for a lowpost scorer, and they still are. While the L-Train may be more of a high post player, it gives them something. They had Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordan and Luo Deng and thus needed someone down there. Aldridge has would have been a much better option than Thomas

3. with the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Bobcats select..........Rudy Gay from the University of Conneticut. (Actual pick--Adam Morrison)

looking back, I really don't see what people so in the 'stash that made him such a coveted pick. he is an unathletic guy that can't defend. Rudy Gay was turned out to be a pretty solid player to go along with the then nucleus of Ramond Felton and Gerald Wallace.

4. Wth the fourth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the Portland Trailblazers select.........well, not a lot of options here, man this draft stunk. You know what? Screw this, lets talk about something that is relelvent, like the offseason.

Blazers should sign Mike Bibby
