COLORADO-It has been a rough 2009 for New York Yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez. earlier in the year, "A-Rod" readmitted to using performance enhancing drugs in an interview with ESPN's Peter Gammons.
The latest news coming after he went to Colorado to receive medical help for his injured hip is that he could be out until May. Rodriguez, however, believes that he can get back sooner.
"I have my cousin still on speed dial," Alex said in a press conference today, "I can just get in touch with him and, believe me; I will be ready before opening day."
On asked on whether or not there will be a media backlash for him taking PEDs again, Rodriguez replied, "Look, I am already a cheater to almost everybody, so this won't change a thing. And besides, everyone knows that if you take to get from an injury, it is not cheating. Just ask Andy (Pettitte)."
The teammate whom he was referring to--Andy Pettitte, also took performance enhancing drugs last year, than apologized say it was only to recover from an injury that he doesn't consider himself a cheater.
"I think it's a great idea," Pettitte said in a statement, "people will understand and the New York media will not make a big deal out of it."
However, some think that it is just a hoax.
Oregonian columnist John Canzano belittled A-Rod in his "radio show," the Bald-Faced Truth, calling out A-Rod's toughness and desire to play the game.
"If he really wanted to play, we would go through the pain, someone has to ask him if he even wants to play. I can only imagine what his teammates must think of him for not playing the pain."
A-Rod says he plans on getting injected with HGH over the weekend.
